A delightful romantic comedy that soars through the exhilarating and sometimes confusing anticipation of love. Sales clerks in a Hungarian parfumerie, Georg and Amalia spend their days quarreling with each other; yet unbeknownst to them, at night they write adoring love letters to each other as lonely heart’s pen pals. How their discovery of each other unfolds is nothing short of endearing.
She Loves Me is based on Miklós László play Parfumerie, which also inspired the 1940 Jimmy Steward-Margaret Sullavan film The Shop Around the Corner, the 1949 Judy Garland-Van Johnson musical version of In the Good Old Summertime, and most recently the 1998 Tom Hanks-Meg Ryan film of You’ve Got Mail. Book by Joe Masteroff and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick.
